This Privacy Policy explains how Jathaka collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use our marketplace and its stores. It applies to every account, reading, report and payment made through Jathaka.
1. Who we are
Jathaka is an online marketplace that connects you with independent numerology, astrology and palmistry readers. Each reader runs their own store on our platform. This policy explains how we handle your information across the marketplace and every store on it.
2. Information we collect
To prepare your reading we collect the details you share with us: your name and email address for your account; your date, time and place of birth (and, where applicable, palm photographs) because these are the basis of a personalised report; the questions or preferences you type into a request; and technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, gathered automatically for security and performance.
3. Payment information
We do not see or store your full card or banking details. Payments are processed by our payment partners, who handle them under their own security and privacy standards. We only record that a payment was completed so we can confirm your order.
4. Sensitive personal data
Your birth details and palm photographs are sensitive. We use them only for the purpose you gave them to us for — preparing and delivering your report — and never for anything else. Palm photographs are stored in a private, access-restricted store and are never shared publicly.
5. How we use your information
We use your information to create and deliver your reports, to process payments, to let you sign back in and view past reports, to let the reader you chose respond to your request, to improve the platform, and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to anyone.
6. Who we share it with
Your information is shared only with the reader you choose (so they can prepare your reading), with the technology partners who power the platform — such as our report-generation and astrology services, our database and hosting provider, and our payment processors — and with authorities where the law requires it. Every partner is bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
7. How we protect it
We use encryption in transit and at rest, restrict access to your data to people and systems that need it, and follow recognised security practices for cloud-hosted infrastructure. While no system is completely secure, we work hard to keep your information safe.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your account and your reports for as long as your account is active, so you can return to your readings at any time. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data unless we are required to keep it for legal reasons.
9. Your rights
You can access the information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, withdraw your consent at any time, opt out of any promotional messages, and ask us to delete your data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@jathaka.app and we will respond within a reasonable time.
10. Children's privacy
Our services are intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us their details, contact us and we will remove them.
11. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the marketplace is used so we can improve it. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some parts of the site may then not work as expected.
12. Third-party links
Individual stores or reports may link to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, so we encourage you to review their policies before sharing your data.
13. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 (with its rules). By using the marketplace you agree to this policy and its governing law.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the revised policy on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the marketplace after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
